badAss Rock’n’ Roll
DEF CRÜE stands for Bad Ass Rock’n’Roll, which means raw and honest Hard Rock. The band motto, originally from Angus Young (AC/DC) and cited by DEF CRÜE, actually says it all: “The challenge is to simply be a good Rock’n’Roll band!” And that is ruthlessly embraced.
DEF CRÜE is composed partly of well-known scene musicians, some of whom have already earned a production deal with a major label, and talented newcomers. This mix forms the creative basis that defines DEF CRÜE.
The program of the current show consists of Hard Rock classics from Judas Priest, Metallica, Guns’n’Roses… to current tracks from artists like Clutch, Corey Taylor, or Thundermother, and their own Rock bangers!
… and no: DEF CRÜE is not a tribute band – neither of Def Leppard nor Mötley Crüe. However, since the connection to these two bands is often assumed, DEF CRÜE naturally also has some classics from these two Rock giants in their repertoire.
The band, formed since 2020, has in the meantime built up a decent fan base with gigs, including performances on the 88.6 Rock Stage at the Donauinselfest, at the European Bike Week in Faak/See, or at the ((szene)).
So, keep rockin’!!! It’s only Rock’n’fuckin’Roll!!!

METAMORPHOSIS

Most people know DEF CRÜE as one of Austria’s best cover bands, known and loved for their dynamic and diverse live shows. But in every creative rock formation, the desire grows to capture original ideas on record.
With the current single HEAT, DEF CRÜE reveals a harder, more powerful side — creative, energetic, and instantly recognizable. HEAT is the first single release from the band’s upcoming original album.
Over the past months, we’ve dedicated ourselves to writing and producing original songs — and started bringing them to life in the studio.
Our very first original release was ECHOES OF CHRISTMAS, submitted as Austria’s contribution to the international Christmas Rock Song Competition.
And now, our next song is complete — and will be released in March 2025, together with an official video.

Of course, we’ll continue to perform and develop our cover program — but the metamorphosis toward original material marks an exciting new chapter for any band. And DEF CRÜE isn’t alone in going through such a transformation.
Back in 1975, the Rolling Stones released a compilation album titled Metamorphosis, which documented their transformation from a pure blues-rock band into a fully original act driven by the songwriting duo Jagger/Richards.
Another band that could rightfully be called one of the ancestors of hard rock also experienced such a shift: IRON BUTTERFLY, who in 1967 released the unforgettable psychedelic rock classic In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida. Toward the late ’60s and early ’70s, they underwent their own metamorphosis and released an album titled Metamorphosis in 1970.
Following the departure of guitarist Erik Brann — who was only 17 when In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida was released — the remaining original members brought in two new guitarists, Pinera and Reinhardt. Likely influenced by evolving audience expectations, the band’s sound changed significantly from earlier releases.
Speaking of those earlier releases: In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, clocking in at over 17 minutes, contains what is arguably one of the most iconic drum solos in rock history. If you don’t know it yet — go check it out! Even the metal scene paid tribute: in 2003, Slayer released their own cover version of the song.

A fresh force joins DEF CRÜE
Ursula „Queenie“ Walker
Ursula “Queenie” Walker is now officially joining the DEF CRÜE vocal section, adding power and depth as a strong backing vocalist.
From time to time, “Mr. Nice Guy” Venturini even hands over the lead mic to “Queenie” — and that’s when her full vocal talent truly shines.

The Rockiest Christmas CD of All Time!
I Believe in Father Christmas – Def Crue
For the past two years, we’ve made it our tradition to rock the festive season our way: taking well-known Christmas classics and infusing them with a solid dose of power and energy, transforming the magic of Christmas into a new, electrifying experience! Our interpretations of these holiday favorites are far from mere cover versions – we add our own unique touch to each song, turning them into one-of-a-kind rock experiences.
The EP I Believe in Father Christmas kicks off with the title track (originally by Greg Lake, former member of Emerson, Lake & Palmer) and continues with rock-infused versions of Deck The Halls, The Little Drummer Boy, and Auld Lang Syne.
The tracklist reaches its ultimate highlight with Echoes of Christmas, our very own composition, which we believe perfectly captures the rock-inspired Spirit of Christmas.
